Our Commitment

We are dedicated to serving our community with integrity and transparency.

We believe in empowering residents through active engagement and meaningful dialogue to address local issues effectively.

We are adamant about ensuring sound fiscal management and the wise and efficient use of tax dollars.

We aim to cultivate a community where every voice is heard and valued.

Through collaboration, honesty, and dedication, we strive to build a better future for all our residents and visitors!
Core Issues

We are independent thinkers but share common values about democracy, individual rights, freedom of expression, and the fair treatment of all people. While we are supporting each other in our campaign, we commit to individually analyzing issues thoroughly to determine what we think is in the best interest of our community.  When we disagree, we'll do so in a civil manner without acrimony or divisiveness.

Concerning the Economy . . .

We are committed to fostering balanced economic development and supporting local businesses for a thriving local economy. This includes the preservation of open space for agricultural and recreational purposes; the use of zoning, subdivision and other regulations to assure an adequate mix of housing types; and making land available for commercial development in a manner which integrates well with residential and agricultural land uses.

Concerning Health & Safety . . .

We support a regional approach to the provision of fire and emergency medical services through the well-established "Kennett Fire and Emergency Regional Commission" (KFERC). While this regional approach produces significant economies of scale, the costs of providing fire/EMS services has increased dramatically both locally and nationally. We are committed to holding KEFERC accountable to keep costs under control without sacrificing service quality and response times.

With respect to community policing, East Marlborough Township maintains a police department consisting of two full-time and five part-time officers. Our department augments the policing services provided by the Pennsylvania State Police by addressing the enforcement of local ordinances, traffic control, and dealing with minor crime and social disturbances. While we support having our own police department, we are committed to reviewing the effectiveness of this approach to ensure it is meeting the Township’s needs in a cost-effective manner.

Concerning Public Works . . .

Our township is responsible for maintaining 65 miles of streets and roads, as well as operating and maintaining storm and wastewater facilities. Our Public Works Department consists of eight full-time employees, two part-time employees, and a small number of seasonal employees. The township maintains a fleet of light and heavy construction vehicles and equipment used for excavation, resurfacing, traffic control signage, and snow plowing. In 2023 the township created a capital improvement plan to ensure the long-term viability of our road and sewer infrastructure and that when equipment wears out it can be replaced to prevent interruptions in township services. We support this approach, but will pay close attention to how we can minimize the future costs of equipment, materials, and manpower.

Concerning the Environment & Historic Preservation . . .

East Marlborough Township is home to broad stretches of open space, some of it in a natural state, some maintained as parks, but much of it in agricultural use. With some of the most fertile soil in the world, we must be good stewards of our land while supporting smart residential and commercial development in accordance with our zoning laws. Balanced growth is a necessity and this requires significant public input and careful consideration to protect our natural and agricultural heritage. We are committed to doing this.

Our nationally recognized historic district of Unionville is a gem to be protected and preserved. It, and the structures it contains, represent a wonderful example of a 19th century crossroads community. There has been significant historic preservation planning and work carried out over the years, and we support the continuation of these planning and preservation efforts.

Concerning Township Administration . . .

The people, materials and equipment needed to run a township must be managed efficiently and effectively so that taxpayers get high value for each tax dollar spent. We are committed to promoting the use of modern management techniques and the hiring and retention of motivated and talented employees. We are also committed to providing adequate office, meeting and work facilities for staff and volunteers to do their work and be productive, and to be able to meet with the public in comfortable and well-equipped settings.
